Let’s be honest, we all get a little camera shy, right? So it’s no surprise that I like to prepare my brides (and grooms) for their wedding (preparations) shoots here in Paris. “The preparation” or Boudoir shoot is the time that you use to get your hair and make-up done by our glam squad, and we play with all the natural light from those big Parisian windows, styling you with the best lingerie fit for your body. Where you’re not only sensual for the photos but comfortably confident in the moment. You’ll enjoy the moment and it will show in the photos.
The Boudoir shoot is an additional story for your love and wedding day.
It’s not compulsory, but it’s certainly a romantic gift to yourself that we also enjoy being a part of! I’m behind the scenes ready to put a glass of wine or champagne in your hands between shots 🙂
You’d think that because it’s not the ceremony it’s less important but when overlooked can make or break the continuity of your photos and videos when you look back on them.
So I like to really have my couples really envision the day with me; how do you want to feel? Then I plan and execute on that idea. As a personal with an aesthetic appeal from my years in the fashion industry mixed with my experience from the wedding industry, here are some tips to get those perfect boudoir or preparation photos.
Look sensual and confident, without looking cheap and cheesy!
- Location location location! I can’t stress this enough – you want to choose a location that not only goes with your color scheme but one that has enough light to bring those photos to life. Try to go for spacious settings with big windows when possible.
- The Right Lingerie – yes your undergarments makes a big difference in how you feel under your dress or suit. In Paris we have many fancy, luxurious or even basic lingerie that will have you feeling comfortable and sexy. Also feel free to pick up your favorite from back home, sometimes the best lingerie is with a brand that you’re already used to.
- Decor Details – yes it is totally worth it to do some styling in the hotel room – or luxury apartment for the preparation. It doesn’t have to be over the top, sometimes less is more. Think small vases of flowers or an abundance of peonies running along the fire places with candles. Whether you prefer minimalist of lush, the additional details always adds to a richer story.
- Personal Touches – are you a book lover, into cigars, whiskey, or do you have an obsession with French sweets? Let’s find a way to have some of the things you truly enjoy during the getting ready session.
- Have Fun – the most important is to relax (the whiskey could help here). You’ll want to look natural and at ease. We share posing tips when we plan out the shoot.
Preparing is caring, right?
It’s all all about the preparation and experience. You can totally look awesome in those boudoir shoots.
