Paris is no doubt one of the best places to get married or honeymoon. In recent years we have many of our couples make a big european weddingcation from their symbolic ceremony here, and who could blame them! Europe is a world of charm and discovery onto itself. The people, the food and the locations are all so enriching and different. So I wanted make a list of some of our favorite cities to explore while here.
Here are our top 5 Cities to visit from Paris – all in about 1hr and 30 mins by flight with tickets under 200 Eu roundtrip or less!
Amsterdam – Few cities hold the charm of this quant Danish capital. That offers the laissez -faire cool vibe with people swishing around on their bicycles, a vibrant cultural scene and nights wandering along the canal/ river.
Tips + More information – Try renting a bike and get lost in the city.
Lisbon – Still one of the few remaining European cities that rests unbothered by trends. Lisbon will blow you over with its small steeping streets similar to San Francisco and colorful buildings, not to mention amazing seafood at super reasonable prices.
Tips + More information – Some of most indistinct local restaurant will have the best food!
Berlin – The international city is a young artists dream. The possibility in the air in Berlin makes it magnetic and full of life. Everything is at once hip and trendy yet easy-going and accessible. If you happen to go during carnival time you’ll be treated to a rich experience. It is also one of the greener european cities.
Tips + More information – Berliners take partying (until noon!) leisure time seriously so be prepared.
Barcelona – A city where you can escape to the mountains or escape to the ocean, all in walking distance. Where people are proud to be Catalans yet welcoming. Beach life in Barcelona is a real thing – but if you want to opt for one of the many 4 star hotels with pools and sauna we wouldn’t blame you.
Tips + More information – Have a vermouth at Place del Sol.
Nice / Cote D’azur – There are so many small town in the Cote D’azur and Provence region that even the French have a hard time keeping up! But rest assured once you’re there and as long as you’re in 40 to 20 minutes of the beach will be a good place – with lots of local authenticity of the country side; good wine, local cheeses and warm weather with the bluest of waters.
Tips + More information – Spend an afternoon Grasse at the Perfume museum and walk around the town. It’s worth it.
We are a fan of boutique hotels in all these cities and regularly work with some of the best for our couples, but Airbnb offers some romantic, luxurious or authentic options depending on your fancy.
We also work with travel agents, photographers and wedding planners in all these cities.
Be careful with the lowcost airlines and where you’re flying from and to in these cities – personally I always try to fly from CDG because it’s easy access with the metro with a 10Eu ticket – and avoid Beauvais ( a 1hr 45 mins bus ride for 17 Eu one way). Air France has great deals all year round, a bit more expensive than EasyJet or RyanAir or Veuling ( another one of my personal favorites).
So you see it’s easy to travel to other cities from Paris – with a bit of planning ( we can help!) you’ll be ready for your European Weddingcation!
